Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm
Local Police
Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
